Fall Cleanup Tips Before Winter Arrives
A simple fall maintenance guide for leaves, beds, gutters, shrubs, and winter property preparation.

Fall cleanup is about more than making the yard look neat. Heavy leaves can smother grass, trap moisture, block drains, and create slippery walkways when cold weather arrives.
What to know
Clean lawn areas, remove debris from planting beds, cut back spent perennials where appropriate, and clear leaves from corners, fences, and basement access areas.
Gutters and downspouts are important too. Clogged gutters can send water over the edge of the roof and into places where it can damage siding, beds, walkways, or foundations.
Before winter, mark driveway edges, check walkway hazards, and schedule snow service early if you need reliable winter access.
